Through innovative design and the intelligent use of fibre composites, scientists at the Institute for Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at the TU Dresden have succeeded in further developing injection moulding technology in such a way that it can be used in mobile applications for the first time. The processing industry can be provided with a new type of machine technology in which the product is no longer guided to the machine, but the machine can be guided to the product. This opens up completely new possibilities in the design of manufacturing processes and the production of complex hybrid structures.
