Exciting article in the JEC Group magazine about our joint project with INOMETA and Mitsui. High-performance TAFNEX® tapes from Mitsui were processed into composite profiles at INOMETA using laser-based thermoplastic winding before they were functionalised with #ROBIN.
The aim was to demonstrate the potential of combining these two processes to produce versatile profiles. The process chain and the demonstrator are certainly worth checking out.
And this much can be revealed: It will not stop there. We are already working on the implementation of the next ideas.
Abstract:
With lightweight engineering and high performance composite materials an entirely new approach of injection moulding was realised by ANYBRID. The so-called ROBIN – which stands for Robotised Injection Moulding – is the world’s first mobile injection moulding machine. Like this, the advantages of polymer processing can be brought together with other manufacturing processes. In a cooperation with INOMETA and Mitsui Chemicals Europe the potential of combining different processes was shown by overmoulding a high performance composite tubular.
